Live-in For Literacy is a student initiative across nine Canadian university campuses.

Two students from each campus camp out in tents at their libraries to raise money to build educational facilities in underdeveloped countries to promote literacy.

Participating universities include:
  • Queen's University
  • Laurentian University at Georgian
  • Laurentian University (Sudbury)
  • McMaster University
  • Memorial University
  • Simon Fraser University
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Ottawa
  • University of Toronto (St. George)
  • York University

Our plan of action is two-fold:
  1. To promote the importance of literacy and to share it worldwide
  2. Create challenging and meaningful volunteer opportunities for university students
This year's goal is to raise $27,000 towards a school project through Room to Read.

Since the first Live-in For Literacy event in 2006, we have raised over $120,000 and built 9 libraries in Nepal, 5 libraries in India, a computer lab in Cambodia, and published 10,000 local language children's books in India.

You can help us change the world one book at a time!

Both individuals and corporations can support our cause of providing educational facilities to developing countries!
